Success in 90 Days? 7 Results-Focused Questions Most People Fail to Ask and Answer

Most people are already off track to achieve their most important 90-day goals.  Why? Because they failed to answer the 7 leading questions to get the results they desire.  Are you one of them?  Audit yourself now.  Capture your responses on a sheet of paper or voice-record your answers on your smart phone.  You just might surprise yourself…

1.    What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days?

If you haven’t set a 90-day goal, do it now.  Grab a piece of paper.  Jot down your most important business goal to accomplish 90 days from today.  If you started the year with a 90-day goal, have you captured March 31st in black and white?

2.    Why is achieving this outcome important to you (or your business)?

Something in your current reality needs to change.  And unless you’ve captured your “because” or your “big why”, your team or even you won’t have the sense of purpose or urgency to accomplish what is necessary. So what’s your “because”?

3.    What haven’t you achieved it already?

Think for moment why you haven’t achieved this desired outcome yet today. Your answer will inform your decisions around what is necessary to achieve and what barriers you need to address.  Just list all the reasons.

4.    Who can help you get there faster and with less effort?

Does some one else possess the knowledge or skills you currently lack (i.e. outsourcer, team member)?  Do you need help with accountability or leadership? You may be talented or capable to do whatever it is yourself.  But is it the best use of your time, talents or resources?  Can you get there faster by leveraging other people’s efforts?

5.    What are the necessary steps to get your there?

Compare your list of necessary steps with your answers in #3 and #4.  Is anything missing?  Is what you captured absolutely necessary to reach your destination? Quickest route to achieve success?  Resolve your greatest challenge limiting you from achieving the results you want in 90 days.

6.    How will you measure progress?

What gets measured gets done! What are your key performance indicators (or KPIs)?  These are the measures that will let you know whether you are on track or need to course correct to achieve success in 90 days.  Review these interim results weekly to inform your decisions around what you need to stop, start or continue doing.

7.    Which step will you take first?

Congratulations!  You’ve captured the basics in the first six questions. Now, what’s your first physical action?  Write it down and take the first step.  Something blocking your success?
